Bio

Dorothy Dell Dobrava Christ March 7, 1928 - July 27, 2016 Dorothy Christ of Texas City entered into eternal rest July 19, 2016. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2016 at Emken-Linton Funeral home in Texas City with a rosary to follow. A celebration of life mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Dorothy was born March 7, 1928 to Ladislav Vaclav Dobrava and Hilda Julie Satsky Dobrava in Needville, Texas. Dorothy spoke only Czech when she entered first grad but excelled in school and graduated from Rosenberg High School as Valedictorian of her class. She worked as a legal secretary in Rosenberg and Richmond until she and Clarence began to raise their family. She was actively involved in her children's education and activates. Dorothy was also an avid bridge player. Dorothy was an active member of St. Mary's of the Miraculous Medal Catholic community of Texas City, St. Mary's Altar Society, Galveston County Czech Heritage Society, The KJZT and The Texas City Dance Club. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Magdalene Kucherka; nephew Christopher Kucherka; niece, Renee Dobrava and grand-niece Kelly Suter. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Clarence Christ; son, Mark Christ and wife Stephanie; son, Tim Christ and wife Barbara; daughter, Karen Christ Theriault and husband David; four grandchildren, Julianna Christ Hartzel and husband Jonathan Hartzel, Johnathan Christ, Benjamin Theriault and Melanie Theriault. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Dobrava and wife Karen and brother in law, Stanley Kucherka; many nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends and extended family. The Christ family would like to express its appreciation to the very kind and caring staff at Harbor Hospice.
