Wood, a Confederate veteran attracted national notice in 1904 by returning the sword taken from a Union officer during the civil war. Mr. Wood, a youthful Confederate soldier, was given the sword of Col. A.F. Rogers after bringing about the officer's surrender. The sword was displayed in the Masonic Home in Cleburne for almost 40 years until Mr. Wood returned the sword to Colonel Rogers. Survived by three sons; seven daughters; 87 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Wichita Daily Times March 1, 1934
