Obituary - "D. N. WOOD - D. N. Wood born Sept 8, 1871, and died Sept. 16, 1936 of heart failure after having been afflicted with the malady for a number of years. His birthplace was in Hood county, Texas. He was married to Josephine Holder in 1890 and to this union seven children were born, one preceding him in death. Mrs. Wood died June 6, 1933. Nearly two years later he was married to Mrs. Nellie Huff on April 20 1935. He moved to Cimarron county in the early day and was a factor in pioneering the panhandle country. He served Cimarron county as deputy sheriff several years ago, and was elected to the office of tax tax assessor in 1934, which term he was serving at the time of his demise. He is survived by his wife Nellie Wood and six children, Mrs. Ernest Paul, Elkhart Kans., Mrs. Roy Milligan, Spearman Texas ; Mrs. Elizabeth Huff, Dumas, Tex.; Mrs. Genevie Jones and Bill Wood of Boise City, and Mrs. Howard Pitzer, Tacoma, Wash., all of whom were present for the funeral excepting Mrs. Pitzer. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The brothers and sisters attending the funeral include C. C. and Dow Wood and Mrs. Eva Vosburg, Lovington, N. M., Mrs. C. L. Garwood, Amarillo; Mrs. C. L. Rosh and Mrs. R. B. Wright of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Mrs F. A. Caldwell of Dalhart. Others attending the funeral here were Mrs. Jack Osborn, Dalhart Mr. and Mrs. Lem Poling, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Garwood, Mrs. George Rosh and Mrs. George Garwood, all of Amarillo.
