Bio

Roberta Merlene Tomlinson Ping, 98 years and 26 days of age, of the Ruth, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, May 12th, 2016 at the home of her daughter. Roberta was born in the Ruth, Kentucky on Tuesday, April 16th, 1918, daughter of the late George Riley and Mary Alexander Tomlinson. Roberta was a homemaker, and a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church. Roberta was survived by one daughter, Donna (and Dewey) Bradley; four grandchildren, Kevin (and Melissa) Bradley, Delana (and Christopher) Smith, Lynita (and Eduardo) Nazario, and Nicholas (and Kathleen) Bradley; five great-grandsons, Laiken, Gabriel, Zavier Nazario, Asher Smith, and Keene Bradley; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, George Riley Tomlinson, who departed this life on August 16th, 1965 and Mary Alexander Tomlinson, who departed this life on May 24th, 1945; her husband, Gales Ping, who departed this life on June 21st, 1999; two brothers, Oscar Tomlinson and William Tomlinson; and five sisters, Myrtle Richardson, Emma Tomlinson, Dorothy Tomlinson, Martha Hughes, and Jessie Tomlinson. Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16th, 2016 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Don Branscum officiating. Burial followed in the Clay Hill Cemetery.
