Bio

Martha Rachel Tomlinson Hughes, 85 years of age, departed this life on Tuesday, October 30th, 2001 at her home in the Ruth community of Pulaski County, Kentucky. Martha was born on February 28th, 1916, daughter of the late Mary Alexander Tomlinson and George R. Tomlinson. Martha was a homemaker and a member of the Clay Hill Baptist Church. Martha was survived by her loving husband, Gerald Warren Hughes, whom she married in Somerset, Kentucky on April 7th, 1940; one daughter, Sylvia (and Jewell) Tomlinson; one son, Max (and Carolyn) Hughes; three grandchildren, Kelly (and David) Ponder, Anthony Hughes, and Belinda Forshee; five great grandchildren, Logan Forshee, Mason Hughes, Robert Ponder, Will Ponder, and Maria Ponder; three sisters, Roberta Ping, Ruth Tomlinson, and Jessie Tomlinson; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Alexander Tomlinson, who departed this life on May 24th, 1945 and George Tomlinson, who departed this life on August 16th, 1965; three sisters, Myrtle Richardson, Dorothy Tomlinson, and Emma Tomlinson; and two brothers, Oscar L. Tomlinson and William Tomlinson. The Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements for Martha.
