Bio

Marvin Flasher, 74, of Marshall, N.C. went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Mr. Flasher was born Dec. 7, 1935 in Madison County where he had lived all of his life. He was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Bertha Hensley Flasher; sister, Bonada Ogle; brothers, Billy and Emet Flasher; sister-in-law, Phyllis Flasher; nephews, Bobby Flasher, Tommy Hunt, Roger Metcalf and Dean Metcalf. Marvin was survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris Ammons Flasher; daughter, Marvette Mace and husband, Robert; grandsons, Scott Coates and wife, Asheley, and Andrew Coates and wife, Hayli; a great-granddaughter, Karlee Coates; and sisters, Betty Metcalf and Mary Ellen Hunt. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 26, 2009 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home, with the Revs. Bruce Buckner, Tommy Lipe and Danny Jenkins officiating. Interment followed in Clark Cemetery. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, December 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
