Bio
Rachel was the daughter of Elder Omar Strickland and Carlie Bernice (Flemmons) Strickland. She moved to Graham in 1937 where her father took the pastorate of Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church at Medlan Chapel. Rachel was a member of Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church. Coming from a large close-knit family (8 siblings), she married John T. Robertson, Jr. on June 16, 1941 shortly after graduating from Graham High School. Rachel dedicated her life to her husband and was the loving mother of four boys. Rachel spent many hours sewing, canning, and doing all the chores necessary to live and raise her family on a ranch. All of her children and grandchildren have quilts or some other treasure of her handiwork. After her boys left home for other pursuits, Rachel worked in the cafeteria at Graham Schools. She always had a smile on her face for those around her to see. Surviving Children include four Sons: Johnnie Robertson and wife Joan, Douglas Robertson and wife Donna, David Robertson and wife Patty, and George Robertson and wife Tinna all of Graham. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, J.T. Robertson, Jr. A graveside service was held at 10:00AM Saturday, April 16, 2016.
