Stella Faye Ashton Adams, 90, passed away at home surrounded by her beloved family on the morning of Friday, April 8, 2016. She was born February 24, 1926, in Garfield, Utah, the 5th of eight children born to Marvin Henry Ashton and Rosa Martina Hansen Ashton. Faye married her eternal sweetheart, Allen Horton Adams, on January 16, 1947. They were later sealed in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Allen and Faye recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of four children: Mary (Garry) Briggs, Douglas (Susan) Adams (m’ boy), Diane Adams, and Linda (Gregg) Nelson. She learned the value of hard work as a young girl, working at a poultry plant in American Fork as a teenager, was a personal secretary in the personnel department at Geneva Steel. She then worked at BYU in the Graduate Placement Center. While working at BYU, she received a call from the Nebo School District telling her there was an opening and would she be interested. She accepted that offer to be nearer to her family and home by 4 p.m. She was a secretary to several different administrators. She retired after 22 years there. Faye also worked side by side with Allen in their businesses, Adams Sporting Goods and Adams Jewelry, long-time and respected enterprises on Spanish Fork’s Main Street. Faye is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she rendered much service. She taught the boys in Primary and the young women in Mutual. She served as President of the Young Women organization, as well as serving as a counselor, twice. Through her church service with the young women, she received 10 individual leader awards and her Gold Medallion Award. She was Secretary of the Sunday School and she faithfully gave service as a visiting teaching for 58 years. Faye especially loved her calling transcribing patriarchal blessings under two patriarchs. Faye was a gifted seamstress, with an exceptional eye for detail and design. She also enjoyed reading, doing handwork, and was an extraordinary cook. She loved to golf and enjoyed many hours on the links with Allen, and liked competing in golf tournaments with her lady friends. While her children were young, she was involved with PTA. She participated in civic and community events. Throughout Faye’s entire life, her family was her biggest joy; she was devoted to them. Family get-togethers and traditions were legendary. She loved preparing scrumptious food and entertainment for her family. Even through many challenges in life and recent health difficulties, Faye never lost her sense of humor, her spirit of gratitude, or her gentle manner. She was a true lady, who taught by example, hard work, honesty, respect, and integrity. Faye is survived by her much loved husband, Allen; three of her four children and their spouses; her son-in-law, Gregg Nelson; as well as nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also, survived by her brother, Bruce (Helen) Ashton; brothers-in-law: John Bennett and Bill Shaw. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Nelson; grandson, Brett Adams; her brother, Douglas (Mick) Ashton; sisters: Cleo (Louie) Poma, Lucille (Paul) Robinson, Vida (John) Bennett, Rhea (Bill) Shaw, and Phyllis Ashton. Family expresses sincere appreciation and gratitude to Encompass and their compassionate caregivers: Susan, Stacy, Robyne, Debbie, and Sue. Visitation for family and friends will be at the mortuary that morning from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior to services. Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
