Emma Suckstorf, 70, passed away Sunday, April 30, 1961, at her home west of Pierce, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. H. J. Diekhoff conducting. Mrs. Marlin Zautke, at the organ, accompanied Mrs. Dale Wragge and Mrs. James Silhacek, who sang, "Asleep In Jesus" and "Abide With Me". Pallbearers were William Wulf, John Vyhildal, Elmer Cress, Albert Buss, Anton Synovec and Henning Mattson. Burial was in the Lambrecht Cemetery, rural Pierce, Nebraska. Emma Erickson was born April 10, 1891, in Sweden, the daughter of Nels and Dora (Fuocks) Erickson. The family later moved to the Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She came to the United States to Pierce County in 1910. She married Carl Suckstorf on February 25, 1911, at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary last February. They started farming west of Pierce and in 1918, they moved to a farm seven miles of Pierce, where they have since made their home. Surviving are her husband, Carl; two sons, Martin Suckstorf and Clarence (Winell) Suckstorf, both of Pierce; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Christina Suckstorf and two brothers and one sister in Germany. Pierce County Leader, May 4, 1961
