Bio

Graveside services for Joyce M. Buckholtz, 89, of Marietta, were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with Bro. Travis Huffman officiating. Mrs. Buckholtz was born May 26, 1915, at Dillard, the daughter of Frank A. and Lillia Belle Greenwood Shellenberger. She died Sunday, May 30, 2004 in Elmbrook Home, Ardmore. A resident of the Marietta/Ardmore area all of her life, she retired from Uniroyal in 1980 after 10 years of employment. Mrs. Buckholtz was also a beautician for more than 40 years. She and Everett B. Buckholtz were married April 11, 1960, at Ardmore, and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1970. Mrs. Buckholtz was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include a brother, C.J. Shellenberger of Gainesville, Texas; a sister, Sis Shllenberger of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Buckholtz was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Alton, Orville, Orem "Hop," Elmer, F.A. Jr. and David Shellenberger; and three sisters, Bertie Dove, Murl Duncan, and Lura Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were nephews Randy Robertson, F.A. "Butch" Shellenberger III, Keither Wade, Larry Shellenberger, Jerry Norton, Davi Lee "Bronc" Shellenberger, Cotton Wade, John Kelley Davenport, David Ralph Brewer and Rhett Shellenberger. Services were under the directions of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice in care of the funeral home.
