Bio

Elvin E. Brown, 81, of Palestine, Texas died Monday at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. Burial in Neches Cemetery is under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Anderson County to the late, Willie Jefferson and Amanda Welch Brown. Mr. Brown was owner of Brown Paving Contractors for 25 years. He was a member of the Norwood Heights Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Brown; sisters, Marie Brown, and Gracie Pickle; and brother, Raymond Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wedgeworth Brown; daughter, Beverly Van Deman and husband Ron; sons, Garald Brown and wife Linda, and Van Brown and wife Patty; sisters, Nora Rhodes, Jean Mack, and Kathryn Wedgeworth; grandchildren, Jeffrey Van Deman, Jeremy Van Deman, Josh Van Deman, Mandy Steingrube, Gary Brown, and Morgan Brown; and great grandchildren, Colby Crowder and Macy Steingrube.
