Betty A. Gorgen, 88, of Kearney, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel in Kearney. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Betty was born August 7, 1927 in Odessa to LeRoy and Bess (Case) Lynch. She grew up and attended school in Sumner, Elm Creek, North Platte, and Shelton, where she graduated in 1944. Betty worked as a typist and then First National Bank in Kearney for five years. Betty married Gilbert “Gib” Gorgen on September 3, 1950 in Kearney. They made their home in Kearney, and Betty stayed at home to raise their children. Betty enjoyed reading, sewing window shopping, and had a creative eye when decorating the Gorgen home. She also enjoyed making baked goods for her family and friends. Betty is survived by her daughters, Diane Panowicz and husband Ron of Kearney, Lisa Marple and husband Jeff of Lincoln; grandchildren, Shawn Koch and husband Travis of Kearney, Nate Panowicz of Grand Island, Emily Husen and husband Tim of Boston, MA, Megan Hopkins and husband Randy of Omaha; great grandchildren Aiden and Keegan Koch, and future great granddaughter of Kearney, Braylon Hopkins of Omaha; sister-in-law Jeri Roshone of Valentine, NE; several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, and brother Bob Lynch.
