John Lowrance Dies Instantly Near Guthrie Tragic Accident Occurs Saturday; Last Rites Sunday Instant death occurred Saturday when John Lowrance, 49, of Roaring Springs stepped in the path of an automobile on the highway twelve miles east of Guthrie. Lowrance, who with his son-in-law, Hubert Gunter, was en route home from Fort Worth with a truckload of brick, had stopped on the side of the road to obtain water. In walking to the rear of the parked truck, the passing car struck the victim, knocking him thirty feet, directly in front of an approaching automobile. The body was brought to Roaring Springs by W.A. Campbell. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church and burial made in the Roaring Springs cemetery. Well-Known Citizen Lowrance was well-known in this section, having lived at Roaring Springs for twelve years. His tragic death brought shock and grief to friends and relatives of this area. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lowrance and twelve children who are as follows: Homer Lowrance of Quanah, Lee Roy Lowrance and Mrs. Elsie Barton of Dougherty, and Mrs. Hubert Gunter, and Herbert, Aubrey, Clifford, R.V., Louise, Dorris, Billy Joe, and Doyle Gene Lowrance, all of Roaring Springs.
