Carrie A. Burton, 78, of Columbus, passed from this life at 12:14 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department. She was born August 8, 1937, in Adair County, Kentucky, to Otha and Sophie Simpson Yeadon. She married Oscar Burton May 17, 1951. He preceded her in death February 27, 2008. Mrs. Burton was a homemaker and attended Trinity Baptist Church. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and she enjoyed working word puzzles. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Johnson, Bev (David) Thayer and Debbie Settles, all of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Debbie Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, Mike (Johnna) Johnson Jr., Tammy (Mike) Lambrecht, Amberly (Tony) Peterson, Kyle (Amanda) Thayer, Joe (Jamie) Creamer, Doug Smith and Josh Smith; great-grandchildren, Casey Johnson, Hallie Steele, Jacob and Katherine Thayer, Lydia Zieleniak, Bryan and Logan Creamer and Keagon, Dustin and Chase Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mike Burton; sons-in-law, Mike Johnson Sr. and Charles Settles; two brothers; and six sisters.
