Bio

Harry D. Wolfe Services at Ord Funeral services were Thursday for Harry D. Wolfe who died October 18, 1976 at an Omaha hospital. He was 77. The Rev. Ron Roemmich officiated at the 2 pm rites at the Ord United Methodist Church. Interment was in Ord City Cemetery with concluding military rites conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Mr. Wolfe, the son of Daniel and Myrtle Blackstone [sic] Wolfe was born June 28, 1899 at Bartley, Nebraska. His early life was spent at Bartley where he attended the public school. On April 29, 1918 he enlisted in the United States Army at New Market, IA and was honorably discharged on March 20, 1919 at Camp dodge, IA. During his military tenure he served for many months overseas. On February 9, 1922 he was united in marriage to Nettie Ruth Jared at Bedford, IA. After marriage they came to Ord where he was engaged in farming for seven years. He was employed by the Farmers Grain and Supply for a short time and then became custodian at the Ord Public Schools and was custodian at the Ord Post Office until his retirement. Harry was a member of the Ord American Legion Post. Survivors include one son, Duane of Shelton; four daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Hitchman of Bwancoe, Ia, Mrs. Viona Miles of Las Vegas, NV, Mrs. Maxine Kean of Houston, TX, Mrs. Arlene Marshall of Lincoln, 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Scott and Cecil Wolfe in California.
