Fort Bend Herald, January 4, 2016: Nelson Albert Linke, 87, passed away January 2, 2016 in Missouri City. He was born September 5, 1928 in Welcome to Leo John and Hilda Hill Linke. Nelson was baptized November 23, 1930 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1945 and joined the US Navy in 1948, served 4 years in the Seabees (Construction Naval Battalion) whose motto was "We Build-We Fight". Nelson served in San Diego, CA, Fort Monmouth, NJ., Enewatak (Marshall Islands), Amchitka (Aleutian Islands), and Kwajalein (Marshall Islands). After the service he went to work for Shell Oil Co. (Deer Park Manufacturing Complex) in Deer Park retiring after 36 years as an Electrical Technical Specialist. Nelson attended University of Houston. He married Geraldine Dockal on May 2, 1953 at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Rosenberg by Rev. Hugo Probst. He was confirmed as an adult at First Lutheran Church in Pasadena by Rev. Fred C. Harms. Nelson was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pasadena for 35 years. He served on the church council for 26 years in various capacities. Nelson joined Peace Lutheran Church in Rosenberg in 1990. He also volunteered at Helping Hands. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geraldine Dockal Linke, daughter, Cynthia Linke Jenkins and husband Jerry, granddaughters, Amanda Popp and husband Tim, Chelsea Jenkins, great grandchildren, Ashton, Hunter, Brayden and Addison Popp along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice Christ, brothers-in-law Herman Christ and Roger Dockal and sister-in-law, LaVerne Dockal. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1026 Radio Lane @ Avenue I, in Rosenberg with Rev. Michael Giese presiding. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. Wednesday until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 486, Rosenberg, Tx. 77471.
