'Nannie' Dorsett October 16, 1879 in Blount County, Alabama. Marshall Levi MURPHREE was born 10 Oct 1854 in Blount County, Alabama, and died 24 Feb 1934 in Blount County, Alabama. He was the son of Asa Roosevelt MURPHREE and Sarah "Sallie" CLOWDUS. He married Geneva C. "Nannie" DORSETT 16 Oct 1879 in Blount County, Alabama. She was born 15 Oct 1862 in Alabama, and died 11 Jan 1902 in Blount County, Alabama. ------------------------- MARSHALL MURPHREE DIES AT TAIT'S GAP Marshall L. Murphree, one of the oldest citizens of the Straight Mountain section, died at Tait's Gap, at an early hour Saturday morning. His death was due to heart failure. Mr. Murphree was 79 years of age and a member of the M.E. Church. He is survived by two sons, Almuth V. Murphree, of route 2, Oneonta, and W. Asa Murphree, of Birmingham; two daughters, Mrs. G.P. Evans, of Woodlawn and Mrs. H.E. Huggins, of Greensboro, Ky.; one brother, Rev. S.P. Murphree, of route 2, Oneonta; two sisters, Mrs. Stephen Wadsworth, of route 2, Oneonta, and Mrs. Lige Murphree, of Flat Rock. The funeral services were held at Antioch Sunday and were conducted by Revs. Brasher, Jordan, Humphries, Ellis and Kitchens. Wade was in charge.
