The Hastings Daily Tribune (Hastings, NE), Saturday, October 11, 1947; pg. 7 Morning Ceremony at Louchy Unites Lillian Pavelka, Howard Brockman Miss Lillian Pavelka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pavelka of Lawrence, and Howard Brockman, son of Henry Brockman of Lawrence, exchanged wedding vows at a 9 a. m. ceremony September 23 at St. Martin's church in the Louchy community. The Rev. Gregory Petrus officiated at the double ring ceremony and celebrated the Nuptial High Mass which followed. Thomas Dolnicek, uncle of the groom, sang "Ava Maria" during the wedding ceremony and "O Lord I Am Not Worthy" at the communion GROOM'S SISTER The groom's sister, Mrs. Rudolph Hubl, attended the bride as matron of honor. Her bridesmaid was Miss Geraldine Buescher, cousin of the groom. Mr. Brockman was attended by Mr. Hubl and Alvin Pavelka, cousin of the bride. Roland Hoelting and Don Buescher were ushers. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a wedding gown of Chantilly lace over satin. Fashioned with a basque waist, the gown ended in a 3-foot train. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion edged with lace fell from a cornet of seed pearls. She wore a double strand of pearls, the gift of the groom, and carried a cascade bouquet of red roses centered with a corsage of American Beauty roses. Her attendants were gowned in colonial style dresses of pink and aqua. They wore mitts and carried fan-shaped bouquets of gladioli centered with with corsages of Talisman roses. Crowns of flowers were their headpieces. FLOWER GIRLS The flower girls, Maxine Hubl and Delores Pavelka, nieces of the bride, wore floor-length frocks of white faille and carried baskets of red roses and asters. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Pavelka chose a black dress with matching accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses. The bridal couple was honored, following the ceremony, at a dinner for 90 at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's table held a 3-tiered wedding cake flanked with white tapers and bouquets of gladioli. That evening a dance in honor of the couple was given at the Parish Hall. Following a honeymoon trip to Denver, Colo., and the Rocky Mountains, the couple is at home on a farm six miles east of Lawrence. Mrs. Brockman is a graduate of Deweese high school, while her husband was graduated from Lawrence high school. Out of town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Koza of David City, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tismer of Hastings and Mrs. Victor Hubl and children of Burwell. ========================== The Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, November 19, 2015; pg. 8 Lawrence area native, Lillian Brockman, age 90, of Lincoln departed this life November 9, 2015 at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. She was born on April 6, 1925 to John and Anna (Ourada) Pavelka. She attended Prairie Rose Elementary School and was a graduate of Deweese High school in 1942. On September 23, 1947, she was married to Howard Brockman at St. Martin's Catholic Church Loucky near Deweese. They spent their married life on the farm in the Lawrence area. Mrs. Brockman attended St. Stephen's Catholic Church and later attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church after they retired and moved into Lawrence. She was a member of St. Stephens Altar Society and Sacred Heart Altar Society. In the summer of 2013, they moved to the Legacy Retirement Village in Lincoln. Lillian enjoyed golfing, playing cards and was just the life of the party. Lillian also worked for many years in the office of The Lawrence Locomotive and later at the Blue Hill Care Center. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters Donna Helman and husband Gary, Diane Kucera and husband Dan, DeEtta Mayrose and husband Terry all of Lincoln; son Duane and wife Jeanette of Lawrence; grandchildren Mitch Helman, Abby Helman, Megan Brockman, Sam Brockman, Tyler Brockman, Brad Kucera, Clint Kucera, Derrick Wilhelm, Erin Mayrose; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Ken Brockman and wife Phyllis of Lincoln; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard; her parents; sister Alice Hubl and husband Vic and brother Joe Pavelka and wife Julia. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence on November 13, 2015 with Fr. Thomas Bush officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Assisting for the service were: Lector Ken Pavelka; Acolyte Allen Ostdiek; Song Leader Megan Brockman; Organist Carolyn Mazour. Gift Bearers were granddaughters Abby Helman, Erin Mayrose, Kyler Hagemann. Following the Mass a poem was read by Abby Helman and a short Eulogy was given by Derrick Wilhelm. Pallbearers for their grandmother were Mitch Helman, Sam Brockman, Tyler Brockman, Brad Kucera, Clint Kucera, Derrick Wilhelm. Memorial has been established by the family. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence. Merten Butler Funeral Home, Blue Hill, NE was in charge of arrangements.
