Enlisted in Company "C" 51st OVI on 24 August 1861 at Camp Meigs, Canal Dover (Dover), Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Died from disease / sickness on 11 July 1862 at Nashville Tennessee. Military records from that time indicate he was buried at the Nashville National Cemetery, but no modern records indicate he is buried there. Was he reinterred? Brothers Thomas (FindAGrave ID # 153319478) and Lyman (FindAGrave ID #'s 153319549 & 2994983) both served in the 51st OVI and both died of disease / sickness in Tennessee in the Civil War.
