The Haynesville (La) News (Feb. 23, 1950) I.L. BURNS DIED SUNDAY AT SHONGALOO I.L. Burns, 68, well known Shongaloo farmer, died Sunday night at 10 o'clock, while being taken to the hospital in Haynesville. He had been ill for only a few moments. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Donnie Burns, five sons, Pleasant Burns, Shongaloo; H.H. Burns, Shongaloo; A.J. Burns, Shongaloo; Joe D. Burns, North Shongaloo; Robert C. Burns, Springhill; four daughters, Mrs. P.V. Adkins, Shongaloo; Mrs. W.F. Bailey, Shongaloo; Mrs. Ben Taylor, Choudrant; Mrs. M.McEachern, Port Sulphur. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Burns. The funeral services were held at Shongaloo Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in the Old Shongaloo cemetery. The arrangements were by Geo. T. Norton & Company, local funeral directors.
