Services for Willie Dee Burns McEachern, 83, of Shongaloo, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 1996 at the Old Shongaloo United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Kerry Burns. Burial will be in the Old Shongaloo Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill. Mrs. McEachern, a native and long time resident of Shongaloo and a former resident of Port Sulpher, La., passed away Sunday, May 12, 1996 in Baton Rouge, LA where she had resided since 1994. She received a BS degree from Louisiana Tech University and was a retired Home Economics teacher in Port Sulpher, La. with 35 years service. After retiring in 1975 she returned to Shongaloo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy W. McEachern; sisters, Bessie Burns Bailey and Jessie Mae Burns Adkins; brothers, A. J. Burns, Sr., Leroy Burns, Pleasant Burns and Holland Burns. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou McEachern Rountree of Monroe, La., Jo Ann McEachern Puls of Clinton, La., son, George Ray McEachern of College Station, Texas; sister, Margaret Burns Taylor Cooley of Choudrant, TX; brothers, Joe Dae Burns of Jonesboro, La., and Robert Burns of Springhill; grandchildren, Charis Alane McEachern and Shelly Jo McEachern both of College Station, TX, Jonathan Earl Puls and Brian Mac Puls both of Clinton, La., Margaret Ellen Rountree, Anna Elizabeth Rountree and James Clifton Rountree all of Monroe, La. Pallbearers will be Mike Burns, A. J. Burns, Jr., Henry Burns, Bob Burns, Leo Bailey, Bobbye Ben Taylor, Barry Burns and Walter Fred Bailey.
