Maxine Herttenberger, longtime resident of Rule, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015, in Abilene,TX at the age of 91. Maxine was born July 7, 1924, to Thomas Frank and Katie Lee (Bruton) Casey in Rule, Texas. Maxine married Malcolm Herttenberger April 21, 1946, in Rule. Together, they owned and operated several businesses in Rule, most recently was the Antique Store. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rule. Maxine was a beloved Christian, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend. She worshiped with the Rule Church of Christ. She loved being with her family. She was also an avid supporter of the Rule community. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Frank Casey and Katie Lee (Bruton) Casey; husband, Malcolm Beno Herttenberger; two sons, Barry Beno Herttenberger and Lane Casey Herttenberger; three brothers, Leroy Casey, Lamar Casey, and Bruton Casey; and sister, Alice Simmons; and numerous nephews and nieces. Maxine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cathy Herttenberger of Abilene; two granddaughters, Kelli Knight and husband Jeffery of Austin, and Holly Herttenberger of Abilene; one great-granddaughter, Lanier Knight of Austin.
