Bio

Lamar Casey RULE -- Lamar Casey, 79, died Tuesday, at a Haskell hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Rule Church of Christ with John Greeson and the Reverend J.R. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Rule Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Robison Funeral Home. Mr. Casey was born on December 17, 1922 in Rule, the son of Thomas Frank Casey and Katy Lee Bruton Casey. He was a veteran of WWII serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He married Marjorilene "Margie" Camper on October 2, 1948 in Rule. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the Bluebonnet and Drug Store Cafe in Rule for 50 years. He also owned and operate Casey's Cabins in Ruidoso, New Mexico for 19 years. He was known for his beautiful yards and flowers, and his good cooking. Survivors include his wife, Margie, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sonja Jeanne Casey Parr and David Parr of Rule and formerly of Abilene; two sons, Gary Lee Casey and Thomas Rudy Casey and wife, Julie, both of Rule; one sister, Maxine Herttenberger of Rule; four grandchildren, Tonja Jeanne Parr Lowry, Thomas Lee Casey, Casey Wayne Parr, Michael Martin Casey; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Claire Lowry and Jack Henry Lowry. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alyce Casey Simmons; and two brothers, Thomas Bruton Casey and Leroy Casey.
