****************************************** Laverna E. Whitt, 80 years, of Nickerson, NE died Friday, July 24, 2015 at her home. Laverna was born August 12, 1934 in Clarkson, NE to Louis and Emily(Fuchsa)Podany. She grew up in Schuyler, NE and was a graduate of Schuyler High School. Laverna married Francis J. Whitt in 1953 in Schuyler, NE. The couple lived in Grand Island prior to moving to Fremont in 1964. Laverna loved to go to flea markets, was a collector of stamps and knick knacks. She enjoyed going for walks and was an animal lover, taking in wild animals and caring for them. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Laverna is survived by son, Daniel and wife, Mary Whitt of Florence, CO; daughters, Tina Durgin of Omaha, NE and Francine and husband, Dennis Mercer of Omaha; sisters, Lorraine Vidlak of David City, NE and Louise Klug of Richland, NE; sister-in-law, Bettie Podany of Fremont; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Nebraska. The Rev. Father Ron Battiato will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family. (mosermemorialchapels.com)
