The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, April 20, 1950; pg. 1 Karmazin - Drudik Red roses and white snapdragons banked the altar of Assumption Catholic church (sic) of Deweese for the wedding Tuesday, April 11th, of Miss Dorothy Karmazin and Mr. Bernard Drudik. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Karmazin and the groom is the son of Mr. Albert Drudik of Lawrence. The Rev. Gregory Petrus received the couples vows in a double ring ceremony at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Louis Skalka, organist, accompanied the choir. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white slipper satin gown trimmed with imported lace, both at the shoulders and edging the train, as well as in tiers at the front of the skirt. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a lace sweetheart crown adorned with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white stephanotis. Her only jewelry was a double strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. The groom wore a blue-gray suit and a boutonniere of white carnations. The bridesmaids were Norma Drudik and Loraine Drudik, sisters of the groom, and Leona Skalka, cousin of the bride. They wore taffeta gowns of pale green, yellow and lavender respectively. The dresses had net yokes with bertha collars edged in lace. The fronts of the skirts were also edged in lace and held up in loops by flowers of the same color. Each wore matching sweetheart net hats and gloves, and carried a bouquet of pink gladioli. Edmund Drudik, cousin of the groom, and Herbert Kohmetscher and Eugene Spade, friends of the groom, served as best men. The ushers were: Leonard Karmazin, cousin of the groom, and Donald Pavelka, cousin of the bride. Each wore boutonnieres of white carnations. The bride's mother wore a navy blue dress trimmed with white lace and adorned with a corsage of white gardenias. A reception Immediately following the ceremony was held at the home of the brides parents for about two hundred guests. The bride's table was decorated with a three tiered, all white cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. On each side of the cake was a spray of red roses and candles. Mrs. Delmar Hessman had charge of the guest book. Cousins of the bride and groom served the brides table. The bride attended high school at Nelson. The groom attended parochial school of Lawrence. The bride was a teacher of three years and the groom is employed in farming. Departing on a weeks wedding trip the bride wore a three piece navy blue suit with pink accessories and a corsage of pink roses. They will make their home on a farm 3 1/2 miles northeast of Lawrence. The out-of-town guests were: Mrs. Henry J. Gruntorad and family and Mrs. Frank Tomasek and Catherine of Lexington; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Cadr and family and Mr. Adolph Gruntorad of Linwood; Donald Pavelka and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bauers of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. George Cadr of Brainard; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Skalka of Ericson and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pavelka of Hastings. ========================= The Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, June 4, 2015 Dorothy Rose Drudik was born February 22, 1928, in Deweese, Nebraska, to Marie "Mary" (Gruntorad) and John Karmazin. She departed this life on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her home in Crete, Nebraska at the age of 87. Dorothy graduated high school, earned her teacher's certificate and taught high school for three years. On April 11, 1950, she married Bernard "Ben" Drudik at the Assumption Church in Deweese. They lived in Lawrence until 1955 and then moved to Crete. Dorothy was a proud homemaker, raising seven daughters. She also worked at various local Crete businesses throughout the years. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and church organizations. The joy of Dorothy's life centered on her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Ben in 2003; her parents; two brothers. Dorothy is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Connie & Gary Siedschlag of Yutan, Arlene & Doug Gwin of Berthoud, CO, Mary & Terry Waltman of Crete, Donna & Monte Allen of Berthoud, CO, Judy & All Hatcliff of DeWitt, Linda Oplinger of Olivet, SD, Lisa & Michael Bals of Lincoln; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. Rosary was held May 26, 2015 at Kuncl Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held May 27, 2015 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Mark Huber officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nick Siedschlag, Jason Hatcliff, Jeff Hatcliff, Derek Gwin, Zachary Allen, and Sean Bals. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters.
