Bio

Theresa A. Wermeskerch, six weeks short of her 100th birthday, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Friday, December 27, 2001, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2001 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Andrew Menke officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm at the church with a Rosary at 7 pm on Sunday. Further visitation will be one hour before service time on Monday.Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Theresa was born February 11, 1902, at Lawrence, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Josephine Kimminau. She received her education in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church School near Lawrence, and worked as a “hired gal” and helped in the homes of neighbors. She cared for many people during her lifetime. On May 21, 1935, at Lawrence, Nebraska, she married John Wermeskerch and they made their home on a farm near Roseland. Later they resided in Hastings and eventually moved to the Good Samaritan Village. Shortly after John died in 1989, Theresa moved to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. When her children were younger, she was the cook for Catholic Church School in Assumption, Nebraska. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Theresa is survived by one son; Roger (and wife Bethine) of Lincoln, two daughters; Kathryn (Mrs. John) Keane of Lincoln, Marlene (Mrs. Ron) Preissler of Fremont, Nebraska, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son; Robert, two sisters; Kathryn and Lena, five brothers; Ben, Bruno, Ferinand, Frank, and John.
