Cal and son Calvin, Jr. in the same grave site are together again and in God's hands forever.
William Calvin "Cal" Braun was born in Kirk Colorado on Nov 17 1923 to Margaret (Klassen) and Peter A. Braun; and Calvin died at 88 years of age on September 22, 2012, at the Avamere Retirement Community in Keizer, Oregon. In 1944, Cal married Mathilda "Tillie" Goertzen in Reedley, California. Until 1957 Calvin and his family lived near Orange Cove about 8 miles north west of Reedley, and then during 1957-2008 they moved 1st to Dallas Oregon, then to Lincoln City, and finally to Keizer. Calvin was faithful to God, loved his family, was always consistent in his church participation, and was always ready to volunteer when needed in his home neighborhood. Growing things was important to Cal, and he worked at various times on rural farms. He also routinely planted and tended a home garden and tended his yard. He began a business in the mid-1950's and helped it grow into Dallas Building Supplies. He served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Retirement Village and was a lay leader at Faith Baptist Church in Lincoln City. Cal found great satisfaction during his years in Lincoln City while working as manager for Lumbermen's Building Materials, and serving as a member of his local Kiwanis Service Club. In his later years, he totally enjoyed gardening, and resting and spending time with his family. Cal was preceded in death by his loving wife, Tillie (Goertzen) Braun; sons William Calvin Braun, Jr. and Infant Son Braun; his parents Peter A. and Margaret (Klassen) Braun; his sisters Maurien (Braun) Sawatzky, Esther (Braun) Ratzlaff and Dorothy Braun; and his brothers James Morris Braun and Richard Franklin Braun. Surviving Cal are his son Bill and family of Fresno, California; daughter Bev and family of Keizer; and sister Caroline (Braun) Gilstrap of Fresno CA. A memorial service was held for Calvin at the Salem First Baptist Church by family and family friends on Sept. 28, 2012. Family and family friends all gathered again at the Reedley Cemetery in CA on October 11, 2013 to inter the ashes of Calvin in the Reedley Cemetery gravesite of Calvin's and Tillie's infant son, William Calvin Braun, Jr. (FAG 58139213), born on June 14, 1945 and died on June 14, 1945 thus reuniting father and son. Also on October 11, the ashes of Calvin's wife Tillie were interred in the gravesite of Calvin's and Tillie's other son, Son Braun (FAG 58139213) who died on November 2, 1945, thus reuniting mother and son. Calvin's and wife Tillie's interments were done to honor Calvin's and Tillie's last request shared with immediate family prior to Tillie's death in 2008, i.e. "After the second spousal death, the family would reunite their respective parental remains 1 each with the remains of a son both of who were interred in separate grave sites in the Reedley Cemetery." Son William Calvin Jr. is now with his dad forever.
