Bio

Thanks to contributor #48796369 Stanton Capellen, 85, of Hazard died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his home near Hazard. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Mr. Capellen was born March 21, 1916, in Sherman County to Oscar and Ruth (Criffield) Capellen. He attended in a rural Sherman County school and Hazard High School. He married Erma Keldsen on March 19, 1935, in Kearney. The couple began their married life in the Hazard area. In 1936, they moved to the Pavillion, Wyo., area where they homesteaded 120 acres, building a home and making improvements on their property. In 1945, they moved back to the Hazard area to farm. Survivors include two daughters and one son-law, LaVonne Feller of Hazard and Wanda and Lyle Otte of Hazard; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold of Riverton, Wyo., and one sister, Bernice Pelley of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, Fern and one brother, Leonard. The Grand Island Independent, Sept. 30, 2001
