Herald Coaster, September 18, 2000: Funeral services for Lester R. Selig, 70, of Guy, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Needville United Methodist Church, with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery. Bob Hayes, the Rev. Keith Massey, the Rev. Jimmy Arnold, and the Rev. Erskine Riveire all officiated the services. Serving as pallbearers were Aubrey Horner, Eric Horner, Bill Catchings, Ben Thuesen, Larry Gaines, and Larry Simpson. Mr. Selig died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at his home in Guy. He was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Millheim to parents, Benjamin and Annie Severin Selig. He was a member of the Needville United Methodist Church and over the years, he held many church offices. He owned the Massey-Ferguson Dealership. He was also a former president of the Lion's Club and a former official for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Mr. Selig's wife, Mary Selig, preceded him in death. He is survived by a niece, Carolyn Smith and her husband, Mike, of Guy; a nephew, Daryl Selig and his wife, Donna, of Needville; a cousin, June Barbee of Millheim; numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends, and special friends, Keith and Dorothy Massey. Memorial gifts may be made to the Needville United Methodist Church, 8606 Church St., Needville, Texas 77461. Funeral services were under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Dirs., Inc., 3103 School St. in Needville, (979) 793-4515.
