Flynn, 83, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Bethany, died 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) in National Health Care, Greenville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials: Greenville Zoo. Hazel was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Bethany, the daughter of W.S. and Dessie Mayfield Clark. She graduated from Bethany High School and St. John's Nursing School, Springfield. She was in the Army Nurse Corps, serving as Lieutenant during World War II and during the Vietnam War. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital after 30 years of service working in Amarillo, Texas, Kerrville, Texas and Dallas, Texas as assistant chief of nursing. She was a lifetime member of the Red Cross, receiving many awards for her dedication to her career and volunteer work. Surviving are her son, Dan Flynn of Greer, S.C.; daughter, Kathleen Reynolds of Greenville; brothers, Wayne Clark of Decatur; Marvin Clark of Ramsey; Ivan Clark of Bethany; sisters, Helen Baird of Bethany; Ruth Craig of Sullivan; Ardith Capshaw of Decatur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
