Bio
Godfrey married Joyce Kuhr on January 4, 1952. The are the parents of Frank, Dave, Anne, Greg, Mitch, Mary & Ralph. Godfrey C. Lanik, 84, of Ceresco, NE, entered into eternal rest Monday, March, 23, 2015 at his home, surrounded by family. Godfrey was born on August 14, 1930, on the family farm, to Frank and Rose M. (Brtek) Lanik near Wahoo, NE. The family moved to Wahoo following the death of his father, when Godfrey was 10.He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School through 9th grade and graduated from Wahoo High in 1948. He enlisted in the United States Navy on October 6, 1950, proudly serving his country in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he worked at the Dooley Auction Market, Burlington Railroad, and spent over 30 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Lincoln, NE. He was united in marriage to Joyce Kuhr on January 4, 1952. In 1958 the couple bought the farm where they lived together, raising their seven children for over 58 years. Throughout the many years, Godfrey became known by friends as "Gobby" and coworkers as "Wahoo". He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Davey, VFW post #4502, and the Knights of Columbus. His many interests included "buying junk and selling treasures", antiques, farming, livestock, and supporting Catholic schools. He took great pride in his land and loved the soil he worked with. Above all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; having traveled all over to follow their sports and activities in life. He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Lanik; children, Frank Lanik of Ceresco, Dave (Cheryl) of Wahoo, Anne (Randy) Robbins of Wahoo, Gregg (Emily) Lanik of Lincoln, Mitch (Margaret) Lanik of Ceresco, Mary (Bill) Phillips of Seward, and Ralph (Lisa) Lanik of Fremont; brothers, Larry (Mardell) Lanik, Ven (Willa) Lanik, and Ralph J (Irene) Lanik, ; sisters-in-law, Mildred Lanik, Darlene Ehlers, and Joyce H. Lanik, Norma Heiser, Kaye (Gary) Roels, and Jeanette Herrera; grandchildren, Eric (Gina) Lanik, Sarah (Mike) Frain, Kevin (Angie) Lanik, Kristin Ceballos, Chad (Becca) Lanik, Cassie (Nic) Hitz, Rika (Steve) Ryan, Tina (Tim) Meduna, Dana (Matt) Sousek, Kastl Lanik, Caleb Lanik, Eve Lanik, Melissa (Josh) Kramer, Mychal (Amy) Lanik, Matthew Lanik, Seth (Hannah) Styskal, Steven Lanik, Tobi Lanik, and Chessna Fernald; and 29 going on 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Matthew and Joel Styskal; brothers, Francis, Leo, and Bernie; sister, Rose Marie (Posie) Cermak.
