Mabel Irene Saddoris, daughter of Harry Walter Kelley and Clara Jane (Boyce) Kelley, was born April 4, 1910 in Clarke County, Iowa. She passed away April 11, 2006 at Osceola Nursing & Rehab at the age of 96. Mabel graduated from Van Wert High School and attended Drake University. She was united in marriage to Lyle Howard Saddoris on April 29, 1934 in Osceola, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters. A lifelong Clarke County resident, Mabel taught Country schools for 17 years and then taught at Weldon for 14 years. She was a member of Clarke Community Retired Teachers, Nifty Needle Club, Osceola United Methodist Women, a Past Noble Grand of Sarah Rebekah Lodge #57, and also a member of Osceola, Murray, and Ottumwa Saddle Clubs. Mable was a member of Lacelle United Methodist Church. Mable enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, and had made quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked to read, make crafts, attend craft shows, enjoyed cooking and was a great cook. Mable was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Eula Siefkas and Neva Jamison; and brother, Donald Kelley. Osceola Sentinel Tribune, April 20, 2006, Osceola, Iowa
