Bio

Adalene Olga Amanda (Tischler) Tomlinson , age 76, of Llano (Formerly of Coleman, and Priddy), passed away, Tuesday, January 6th, after lengthy illness. Adalene was born to Monroe W. and Annie (Rackrow) Tischler on March 31, 1938 in Hamilton, Texas. She was the eldest of their 10 children. She attended High School in Midland-Odessa area and Winters. They were of the Lutheran faith. On September 13, 1958 Adalene married Elmer Lee Tomlinson in Mexico. They lived in Llano more than 30 years and were the owners/operators of the Tomlinson Boot Shop on E. Main St. Many a Llano cowboy/cowgirl bought their boots from Elmer and Adalene. They even sold boots to folks living abroad. Adalene was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Tomlinson (Feb. 2002), and her parents, Monroe W. and Annie Tischler. Also Preceded her in death were, all 5 of her brothers Harvey, Homer, Edwin “Pip”, Kenneth, and Calvin, as well as aunts and uncles. She is survived by her four sisters, Serena and husband Gene Maas of Ballinger, Nelda and husband Mike Briley of Winters, Eva Hollis of Winters, Josie and husband, Ray Henry of Ballinger and sister in laws, Patty Tischler of Winters and Wanda Flanagan of Brownwood. She is also survived by Aunts Leona and Billie and cousins. She will be missed by many including many nieces, Barbara Weidebusch used to come visit her here in Llano, and nephews & great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Much to Adalene’s delight, she recently (the past 2 or 3 years) reconnected with High School friends, Joe Loper and his sister Billie Hallum from Eastland. Traveling to see them was a highlight of her day. In addition to being a most excellent seamstress and boot maker, Adalene was an extremely good cook. She was known throughout the family for her wonderful recipes. She loved traveling and seeing America. Funeral services will be held with David Hankins, minister of Llano Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Llano City Cemetery. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home
