CANYON — Janie Nemic, 92, of Canyon died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2015. No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Janie Nemic was born on April 8, 1922, in Ellis County to Theodore and Josephine Knize Dlabaj. She married Albert Nemic on Dec. 28, 1969, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She worked as an account analyst in Dallas for many years. Janie was a Catholic and enjoyed painting birds and flowers. She also loved to dance. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Barrington and husband James of Canyon; two granddaughters, Karlee Wells and husband Keith of Kennebunk, Maine and Cari Thompson and husband Rob of Canyon; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Hunter and Haydn Wells of Kennebunk and Robby, Aryauna and Kaelynn Thompson of Canyon; and a longtime friend, Bill Mays of Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children’s Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
