Herald Coaster, August 3, 1999: Funeral services for J.C. Matocha of Rosenberg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George Street in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father James Ramsey will officiate the services. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Boulevard, FM 2218 and Highway 59 in Rosenberg. Mr. Matocha was born July 14, 1928 in Cistern to Josef Karel and Genevieve Janacek Matocha, and he passed away Aug. 1, 1999 at his home in Rosenberg. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg for 43 years, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2801, a Catholic Life member, and a 50-year member of KJT. J.C. was very active in his Czech community, serving as co-founder of the Fort Bend Czech Alliance, a member of the Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, and a member of the Fort Bend Czech Heritage Society. His other memberships included former member and officer of the Rosenberg-Richmond Bowling Association and the Texas Ten Pin Association. He was the co-owner of Hi-Lo Auto Supply in Rosenberg for 22 years. He was a big sports fan and especially loved the Houston Astros. After his retirement, J.C. spent most of his time at his farm in La Grange. He was preceded in death by his father, step-mother, Frances Matocha, and sister, Mary Trlicek. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Vickie Matocha; J.C. and Vicki would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5, 1999. He is also survived by his sons, Don Matocha, and Randy Matocha and his wife, Quala; his daughters, Vera Matocha Wehring, and Amy Matocha Parker and her husband, John; nine grandchildren, Kristi Eversole and her husband, Jake, Kevin Matocha, Kenneth Matocha, Ryan Matocha, Johanna Matocha, Kyle Wehring, Jacob Wehring, Allison Matocha, and Jackson Parker; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jo Eversole; brothers, Benno Matocha and his wife, Agnes, Charlie Matocha and his wife, Ila, Franklin Matocha, and Ted Matocha and his wife, Evelyn; his sisters, Lena Bacak, Annie Tupa and her husband, Joe, and Wilma Stryk; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Christian Living Scholarship Fund.
