Chillicothe - Alvenia Esther (Harrell) Cox, 88, formerly of Queen Anne Court, died at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe, where she was a resident. Alvenia was born on June 25, 1917, in Beardstown, Ill., a daughter of John and Maude Carter Harrell. She married Roy Lee Cox on Sept. 5, 1933, in Virginia, Ill. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1994, in Peoria. Surviving are three sons, William L. (and Arlene M.) Cox of Edwards, Ill., Roy S. (and Joanne R.) Cox of Princeville, Ill., and Jacob Lee (and Margie) Cox of Bartonville, Ill.; and by her daughter, Beverly Jo (and Phillip) Nissley of Woodhaven, Mich. Also surviving are her 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her brother, William Harrell of Jacksonville, Ill.; and her three sisters, Louise Tribel, Gladys Miller and Minnie Frye, all of Jacksonville, Ill.; and a half brother, Howard Harrell of Jacksonville, Ill. She was preceded in death by her one brother and three sisters. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Peoria. She was a day-care teacher for First Assembly of God Church for many years. The Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at First Assembly of God Church. The visitation will be on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilton Mortuary. The Rev. Dean Grabill will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials can be made out to her church.
