Daughter of Sylvester Greenlee and Esther Hetty Barnett of Mason County, West Virginia. Wife of Darius Matthew Amsberry of Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa; married on 08 April 1875 in Colport, Wayne County, Iowa. "Mrs. Evangeline Amsberry, Custer County pioneer, died early Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Clay, southwest of here, after a long illness. She was 81 years old and the widow of the late D.M. Amsberry, a former Secretary of State of nebraska and made her home here in Custer County for fifty-six years. Funeral services were conducted from The First Baptist Church here, of which she was the oldest member, on Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Parker Smith, pastor of the church in charge, and burial was made in the Broken Bow Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, William of Lincoln and Lorin of Broken Bow, and three daughters , Mrs. Minnie Clay of Broken Bow, Mrs. Amy Foote of Dunning and Mrs. Lillie Bangs of Lincoln."
