YORK — LeRoy Eugene Ott Sr., 70, of York died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in Lincoln. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in York. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. that day at the Giltner Cemetery in Giltner. Metz Mortuary in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Ott was born April 2, 1944, in Stromsburg to Reuben and Hazel (Ryder) Ott. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kristi Renee. Survivors include his wife, Irva Jean of York; two sons and a daughter-in-law, LeRoy Jr. and Karla Ott and Todd Ott, all of York; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Chuck Schmidt of Grand Island and Billie Foulk of Giltner; and one brother, Gary Ott of Giltner. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jocelyn, Kami, Dillon, Henry, Nathan, Bailey and Ryleigh; a great-granddaughter, Londyn; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a graduate of Giltner High School and married Irva Jean Kendall on Aug. 9, 1963, at Giltner. At a young age, LeRoy worked with his father as a carpenter and later in life retired from Champion Homes. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities and fishing trips with his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
