Elden A. Mauldin, Sr. April 14, 1921 – September 23, 2003 SALEM - Elden A. Mauldin, Sr. was born April 14, 1921 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Elmer and Bertie ‘Fortune’ Mauldin. He was the ninth child of fourteen children. He graduated from Gracemont High School and began working as a plumber and carpenter then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, landing on the beach at Normandy, serving bravely in Europe. He married Una D. Vance on September 11, 1943. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, sports, playing cribbage, and the company of his family. He has been a resident of Salem since 1976. He was a plumber for over 60 years. Survivors include his wife, 6 children, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
