Lambert, 97, of Palmer, were held Wednesday (today) at the United Methodist Church in Palmer at 8:30 a.m. with the Rev. Elvin Bratton officiating. Mr. Lambert died Sunday at the St. Paul hospital... Burial was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery at Coon Rapids, Iowa.... Mark V. Lambert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Lambert, was born October 31, 1876 at Mount Carroll, Illinois where his father operated a hotel and livery stable. As a young boy he moved to Coon Rapids, Iowa, where he graduated form Community School in 1898. On September 6, 1899 he was united in marriage to Lillie May Carpenter. Mark then attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, Iowa and engaged in farming. In 1910 the couple moved to Palmer, where Mark established the Loup Valley State Bank and engaged in ranching. Mr. Lambert was very active in community affairs, where for a number of years he served on the town board, board of education, and administrative board of the Methodist Church. He was active in the church choir and helped establish the Coolidge Hospital and Sanitarium, where he served on the board of directors for 40 years. Ms. Lambert passed away on January 1, 1964 and Mark continued to make Palmer his home the rest of his life. Mark entered into rest on August 4, 1974 at the Howard County Community Hospital at St. Paul at the age of 97 years. He is survived by one son, Donald Lambert of Melbourne, Florida; one daughter, Lucille Tibbetts of Palmer; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, May; two brothers, Clarence and Calvin, and one sister, Maude.
