Bio

Grace was the youngest of 6 children born in Yorkshire, England to Elizabeth Smith & John Longstaff. The family came to the United States in 1853 settling in Macomb County, Michigan, where her father farmed. She married Thomas Robert Lambert in 1869 in Michigan. His parents, Thomas & Rosamond had also immigrated from Yorkshire so it is likely the families knew each other. The newlyweds made their home in the aptly named York Township, Carroll County, appearing there in the 1870 census. By 1880, after 11 years of marriage, the couple had had 5 children, three living: Maud E. (1871-1945) married Ed McGinty Rose (1873-1875) Elizabeth (1873- deceased by 1880) Mark V (1877-1974) Clarence Arthur (1878-1955)
