Bio

James Wesley Burns was the son of Peter Simon Burns and Mary Elizabeth Croft. He was the brother of Charles Henry, Leonard, William, John Peter, Albert Lee, and Daniel "Twitty" Burns. James married Callie Evelyn George, the daughter of Hiram "Walker" George and Mary Jane "Mattie" or "Molly" Fowler, on December 10, 1891 in Burlington, Milam, Texas. The couple had no children of their own; however, they helped to raise Sammy Lee Burns the son of Samuel Burns and Zora (Price) Singleton Burns. Samuel was James Wesley's brother.
