Daniel was born in Cooke county Texas to Peter Simon and Mary Elizabeth Croft Burns. He married Elizabeth Ann Dyer on December 17,1903 in Marlow, Oklahoma Dan and Elizabeth had 5 daughters Cleo, Ruby, Elsie, Ruth and Verna and one son Daniel jr. He had six brother's Leonardis, William Francis, John Peter, Charles Henry, James Wesley, AND Albert Lee.
