Bio

Dora (twin) was the oldest of twelve children born to Lloyd Dexter 'Deak' and Kate (McCullough) Simmons. Never married. Buried with her twin sister, who also never married. Obituary SIMMONS, DORA NELLA The Hamilton Herald News June 9,1988 Dora Nella Simmons, 92, of Hamilton, died in Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton on Wednesday, June 1, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 2, with Dr. George Tolbert officiating. Burial was in Pottsville Public Cemetery. Miss Simmons was born in Pottsville on Jan. 15, 1896, the daughter of the late Lloyd Dexter and Kate McCullough Simmons. She had lived all her life in the Pottsville and Hamilton area. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Park Heights Church of Christ. Survivors include three sisters, Irene Huckabee and Odessa Adams, both of Lubbock and Gracie Morgan of Arlington; two brothers, Julius Simmons of Hamilton and Olin Simmons of Grand Prairie. Pallbearers were Bill Morgan, Ernest Peters, Horrace Roe, Leroy Sparkman, Eddie McPherson, and Bill Anderson.
