Bio
Eric Christopher "Chris" MOORE was born on March 30, 1896, in Bartlett, Bell County, Texas, to Thomas Jefferson MOORE and Mary Lou "Molly" BILES MOORE. Chris grew up in Bell County, Texas, where his grandfather, James Christopher MOORE, had migrated to with his family from Randolph County, Alabama, in the Spring of 1872. In later years, Chris and his wife, Mildred Kathryn CONWELL MOORE, lived in New Mexico and Arizona where he sold Singer Sewing Machines. Chris and Mildred MOORE came to Bakersfield, California, for the funeral of his brother, Arthur Allen MOORE, Sr., in late July of 1941. Mildred was pregnant with Donna Florence and the decision was made to stay. "Uncle Chris" worked as a butcher at Safeway market at the corner of Brundage and Chester Avenue. Later he worked for Green Frog Market on Chester Avenue. Chris and Mildred had eight children: Taylor Jefferson, Robert James, Kenneth Allen, Eric Christopher Jr., Shirley Ann, William Eugene, Joyce Christine and Donna Florence. ________________________________________ Sunday - June 13, 1976 Bakersfield Californian MOORE, CHRISTOPHER ERIC Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Veterans section of Union Cemetery for Christopher Eric Moore, 80, 3014 16th Street , who died June 10, in a Bakersfield hospital. Dr. Glenn D. Puder, pastor emeritus of First Presbyterian Church will officiate with interment following. Mr. Moore, a native of Bartlett, Texas, lived in Bakersfield 35 years. He was a self-employed salesman tor the Knapp Shoe Co. for over 23 years, and an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors include the widow, Mildred K., Bakersfield; 4 sons, William Eugene, San Bernardino, Taylor J., Stanton, Kenneth A., and Eric C. Jr., Wilcos, Ariz.; 3 daughters, Ann Long. Bakersfield, Donna F. Haulkenberry and Joyce C. Watson, both of Kalamazoo, Mich.; also 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mish Funeral Home, Oildale.
