************************************************************ JOSEPH DONALD STAVA, of Oroville, California was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 10, 1938 to Edward and Augusta (Jensen) Stava. He passed away at home on February 3, 2013, in Oroville, at the age of 73. Joe started his young life in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, but after the death of his mother in 1940 the family relocated to Douglas, Nebraska. He graduated from Douglas high school class of 1955. Joe came from a large family: brothers: Martin, Ralph, Lee and John; sisters: Mary Rose, Jean, Anna, Bridget and Judith. Joseph married Freeda Chitwood, daughter of Samuel and Hazel Chitwood. Together they had four children, Nancy, Susan, Joe, Jr., and Jennifer. Joe and Freeda divorced. She passed away in 2012. Joe married Carolyn Irene Nelson, the daughter of Kenneth and Lanora Nelson in 2005. They made their home in Oroville where he was a loving husband, father and step-father. Sadly she died 6 months after Joseph. Joseph worked for an Olive Plant in the Shipping and Receiving Department for 30 years. He attended St. Thomas church and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Joseph served in the Army, and received an honorable discharge in 1962. Joseph is survived by his wife: Carolyn, children: Nancy, Susan, Joe Jr., and Jennifer he also has three step-children, fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild a brother: John and wife Sara, Bloomington, Indiana; sisters: Jean Bruning, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Anna Blevins, Geneva, Nebraska; Judith and husband Robert, Omaha, Nebraska. Preceding him in death were his mother, father, three brothers: Lee, Ralph, Martin; and two sisters: infant Bridget and Mary Rose.
