James "Buddy" Shook, 90, of Corsicana, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 16, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Straubing officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. James was born in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Milford and Ida Shook. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. James was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to be outdoors. He was always there to help anyone whenever he was needed. In 1985, James retired from Fibergrate and he and his wife, Mildred, moved back to Corsicana to live out their retirement years helping raise their great-niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Low Shook, of 60 years; son, James Kevin Shook; brother, Milford Shook Jr.; and brother-in-law, Joe Baumgartner. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Baumgartner; daughter-in-law, Caroline Higgins; nieces and nephews, Janet Foster and her husband, Leon, Anele Richardson and her husband, Mike, and Denise Brown and her husband, Jerry; great-nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Collier and her husband, Kevin, Hayden Richardson and his wife, Tiffany, and Dillon Brown and his wife, Allison.
