The son of Leonard Copenhaver and Matilda Sonner , husband of Bessie (Pitney) Copenhaver, Virgil died at Phillips Nursing Home in Moberly, Mo., death certificate #63-021107, informant was his wife, Bessie. -------------------- Moberly Monitor-Index (Moberly, Missouri) 21 May 1963, Tue Page 6 Virgil Copenhaver, Retired Carpenter, Dies Here at 77 Virgil L. Copenhaver, 77, year old retired carpenter, 1107 South Williams street, died at 11:55 o'clock yesterday morning at the Phillip Nursing Home, where he had been a patient for two months. Mr. Copenhaver was born Dec. 18, 1885, in Shelby County, but had lived for a number of years in Moberly. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the local carpenter's union. Surviving are his wife, Bessie; two sons, Leonard Copenhaver and William Copenhaver both of St. Louis; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Doctor of Kansas City and Mrs. Berniece Becom of Des Plaines, Ill. eight grandchildren and seven grandchildren. The body is at the Million and Greer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the chapel by Dr. Joseph P. Grant, pastor of the First Baptist Church.
