Clarence, Shelby, Missouri, December 1960 Vernie Copenhaver, 69, passed away Wednesday night at the Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday evening. Mr. Copenhaver was born September 14, 1891, at Macon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Copenhaver. He was married May 18, 1915 to Alpha Lee Walker. He had been engaged in farming all his life and had lived north of here for a number of years. Survivors include his wife of the home; a foster daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Clarke and her husband, Kenneth Clarke; a foster granddaughter Kenna Rae Clarke' one brother, V. L. Copenhaver of Moberly; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; an 18 months old daughter, Ruby Emma; three sisters and two brothers. The body will lay in state at the Greening Funeral home here until the hour of the funeral services which will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Clarence Christian Church with Rev. Lyle Armstrong and Rev. Elba Martin officiating. Music will be by Rev. Elba Martin and Mrs. Jack Simpson. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
