Bio

Sophia was the daughter of Vaclav "James" and Agnes (Cerny) Hambek. Her parents were Czech immigrants and Vaclav went back to Czechoslovakia after the death of Agnes, remarried and passed away back in his homeland. Sophia grew up on the family farm in Boyd county, NE. She married Ambrose Toman on 3 Feb 1915 in Boyd county (marriage book 2, page 289). They farmed near Spencer, NE for a few years and then moved to a farm in Gregory county, SD. In the 1920's they moved to a farm in Tripp county, SD where they remained. Ambrose and Sophia had children: Rudolph, Sylvia Earll, Agnes, Mary Earll, Bessie, Frank, James and Mildred.
